recording!
I am having trouble finding a suitable microphone to record a trumpet part. I really don't even know where to even begin looking. i'm thinking maybe just a condenser with a filter. but i fear that might pick up too much treble. any thoughts or advice would be nice. thank you
i will look into it. but i do not have eight hundred dollars to spend on one mic at the moment. thanks for the advice though, it is much appreciated.
you could also try checking your local music store and asking an employee. they know their equipment so they may be able to help. although the larger stores generally have more sound equipment. you may also want to check sites like kijiji and stuff for used pieces that people are selling for cheaper, but are still in good condition. just dont trust something without testing it out obviously
K and K sound has by far some of the best mics in existence, and for mics the prices aren't too bad. I bought one for my saxophone for about two hundred fifty bucks, and the sound is crystal clear.

the silent brass system is recordable and really versatile and useful. and there are mics out there made for instruments, although sometimes the can get pricey. there's one on the long and mcquade site for around 800 dollars buts it's veeery nice. just any dynamic mic will do but it wont give you the best sound in comparison to more expensive or specialized mics. i dont know much more, but i hope that helps
