i am a semi-good inprov artist and i want to put my improv on paper. i dont always remember what i play though. i know there is software that will just record everything i do and put into sheet music. but i have absolutely no idea as to what its called or what i need. if someone could help me out that would be fantastic.

Hey man. I think you will

Hey man. I think you will find that there really isn't a program that does that very well. Finale has an option called MicNotate, but I've found it nearly useless. It's very difficult for a computer to accurately determine pitches and rhythms, especially something as melodically varied as an improved solo. A better idea might be to simply record your solo and transcribe it after yourself.

yeah thats what i was

yeah thats what i was thinking but when i was in high school(im now a sophomore in collage) the band director had a program called smart music were he posted all of our playing exams and other pieces. so i know a computer is fully capable of doing the notation its just i need to find a good software.

Band directors have school board money

Most computer programs used in school that do things well are very expensive. I think that even if you find that program, you aren't going to get it for a very low price.
