My spit valve started leaking on my trombone the other day does anyone know a cheap way to fix it?

brainstorming...

uh, I think some duct tape over the pad could work... if not, you can go to a brass store in your area; they probably have an idea or can repair it for you easily enough. my 6-year-old school horn is pretty bad about that haha. Also, advice: when it's in the case, even if you're sure you've emptied EVERYTHING, make it so the slide is pointing downwards (as it would be when you're playing). Otherwise, sometimes spit drifts up to the middle of the slide and it leaks out everywhere... Not fun.

I'm fluent in classical, jazz, and ska trombone, since 2004.

If your spit valve is leaking

If your spit valve is leaking all you need is a new cork. It's a common problem all corks wear out and need replaced occasionally. Any local music shop should have some available and they are very cheap.

at a local music store near

at a local music store near my house i could get a huge bag of corks for around 5 dollars and thats the way how you generally fix them. Its the right way, duct tape i don't recommened it could damage your spit valve.
